PROJECT PROPOSAL. Dystopic Utopia at Candlestick Park
Our proposal unveils a visionary project to revitalize San Francisco’s Candlestick Park, transforming it into a dystopic utopia that defies boundaries and symbolizes resilience. Rising sea levels and abandonment have plagued the park, but we aim to turn this adversity into an opportunity for growth. Through a captivating archipelago of windowless high-rises, we create a new tech headquarters that embraces the challenges of the community and the industry.
ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT. The high-rises stand as imposing structures, coated in an impenetrable cladding that reflects the community’s struggles. Yet, paradoxically, they allow light and air to flow freely, fostering openness and connectivity. Inside, occupants are greeted by undulating walls resembling steep canyon formations, symbolizing resilience and bouncing mesmerizing vertical light through the spaces.
URBAN SPACE & MEASURE. Our project pushes the boundaries of urban planning, blending biophysical, fictional, and symbolic elements. By transcending reality, we challenge conventional norms and invite users into an immersive environment that sparks imagination and contemplation. Boundaries are blurred, and new standards of measure emerge, redefining the essence of urban space.
LOCATION & CONTEXT. Candlestick Park, once a sports mecca, now lies abandoned, inflicting a void upon the community. Rising sea levels threaten its existence, but we seize this moment to breathe life back into the area. Our proposal repurposes the park, transforming it into a hub for tech headquarters. By attracting innovative companies, we invigorate the community, foster economic growth, and forge a sustainable future.
