Upon completing my undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering from CalPoly-San Luis Obispo, I joined Simpson, Gumpertz & Heger in their Building Technology division. I specialized in waterproofing and fireproofing. I also gained a diverse range of professional experience including: project management, construction document review, construction documents developed for remediation and new construction, as well as building failure investigation and litigation.
Just as the world faced economic turmoil during the Global Financial Crisis, I found myself venturing into uncharted territories—the realm of craft cocktails. My hospitality experience includes managing a prodigious San Francisco cocktail bar, participating in cocktail competitions (including being a national finalist in GQ & Bombay Sapphire’s Most Imaginative Bartender competition), teaching classes, and working in brand marketing. This pivot provided some invaluable lessons including: the importance of creating rich and memorable experiences, understanding the importance of knowing your audience, learning how to read people, and being comfortable presenting in front of a crowd.
My desire to synthesize my experiences into the world of Architecture came after I helped a friend and colleague open her firm in Los Angeles, Nous Engineering. After which, I pursued a Masters in Architecture at UC Berkeley, where I graduated magna cum laude. I simultaneously started working at RDH as a Building Science Consultant where I have been continuing my development in the industry and building a deeper understanding of new construction technologies and trends. But I am most looking forward to new opportunities in the Architectural profession where I can coalesce my diverse experiences.
