PROJECT: Villa dall’Ava Study
OMA’s Villa dall’Ava is an iconic architectural project characterized by diverse circulation types and an emphasis on architectural sections. Completed in 1991, this iconic villa explores vertical, horizontal, and diagonal movement to create a dynamic spatial experience. Through an iterative process of model making, we gain deep insights into the design composition, with a focus on utilizing architectural sections to inform the circulation and overall design.
Villa dall’Ava employs various circulation paths, carefully orchestrated to guide occupants seamlessly through the space. By studying and refining architectural models, we optimize circulation routes and spatial configurations, ensuring a harmonious flow between different levels and spaces.
ARCHITECTURAL SECTIONS. Architectural sections play a pivotal role in the design process, providing unique perspectives on spatial qualities and relationships. Through the study and manipulation of sections, we refine the integration of circulation paths with architectural elements. The centrally located ramp, acting as the project’s spine, is precisely tuned through section analysis, ensuring its visual and experiential impact aligns with the overall architectural language.
